The Großmugl Lightmeter in April 2016 - View towards NW. The Mark 2.3l sensor is visible as a white square near the lower right corner. Orion is visible near the horizon and trees and clouds show the residual uplight of Großmugl that contributes less then 10% to the light in a clear moonless night as measured by the station in 2015. Diagnostics: The Lightmeter sent empty data files since mid May.

  • Visit showed that the local backup storage was full preventing further loggin;
  • data moved to netbook and station-function checked;
  • lightrouter restartet after network check;
  • sensor position OK;
  • sensor shows some dirt; cleaning before winter intended;
  • on/off timer reset to MEZ; on/of set to 14:30 to 15:00
  • Panorama taken from sensor position;
  • back Lightmeter up and running at 21 MESZ

Information

  First light 20th October 2009
  Lightmeter Mark2.3, "IYA", # L002
  Note: Non-horizontal (slipped from nominal position): March/April to June 26th 2010
  2011-08-18: Sensor posistion checked (binocular + telefoto-images); --GuentherWuchterl 20:54, 30. Aug. 2011 (UTC)

Grossmugl - Lightmeter compared to nearby SQM-measurements

These measurements show a typical time-dependence of night sky brightness in a relatively good summer night. Note the time-variations as compared to measurements on various observing sites about 30km to the North of Vienna on, August 9th 2010. This example is to meant illustrate the importance of continuous measurements for site comparison to distinguish between temporal variations (light weahter) and site specific differences.
